Joel P. Nichols is a partner with the Deno Millikan Law Firm. His diverse practice includes representing individuals in employment, personal injury, construction defect, real estate, small business, and criminal defense matters.

Joel grew up in Shoreline, Washington and, in 1988, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of Washington. In 1992, Joel earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law. He was admitted to practice law in Washington State in 1993, and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in 1994. From 1999-2002, Joel served as the Director of the Unemployment Law Project in Seattle and served on the Unemployment Insurance Advisory Committee of the Washington State Employment Security Department. From 2005-2006, he served as the Employment Section Chair of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA), and he has been a featured speaker at numerous employment-related seminars.

Joel is a member of the Washington Employment Lawyer's Association (WELA), the National Employment Lawyer’s Association (NELA), the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL), the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), and is an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ). Joel has successfully completed training to administer and teach DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing in conformance with the standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

In addition to fighting for the underdog, Mr. Nichols enjoys golf, music, drama, fishing and coaching his daughter's baseball and softball teams.
