On June 9, 2015, Deno Millikan attorney and partner Joel Nichols argued one of three cases before the Washington State Supreme Court on whether an employer can lawfully terminate an employee who refuses to engage in, or objects to, unlawful conduct that violates clear public policy. Mr. Nichols’ client objected to an insurance industry plan she believed would violate health insurance privacy laws. Her employer abandoned the plan, but terminated her shortly thereafter.
